Online counseling

Not every women do have the opportunity to go to a counseling center.

A lot of reasons can be responsible for this because they

  • are not very mobile
  • have physical limitations
  • are severely restricted and controlled in their freedom of movement by their partner
  • are limited in time by looking after children and older relatives
  • have a different emotional language and multilingual advisory institutions are hardly available or do not exist.

Women are the majority of the population. They are legally equal on rights and could theoretically self-determined and freely go their way of life. But they are often confronted with social conventions and expectations of the society. This raises the question of self-determination over their own path in life. Multilingual women in particular find it difficult to contact advice centers. They may speak the German language not so good or may be much more entrenched in the first language in the psychosocial context. This makes it much more difficult for them to name and talk about problems in German, especially when it comes to topics of shame, fear or guilt, such as violence, problems in marriage, etc. In addition, there may be less awareness of their options and information about advice centers. Taking psychosocial and psychological counseling may also be a taboo. This can have cultural backgrounds.

Sometimes women need support in finding a self-determined way of life and in special situations. Here starts this project: with psychosocial and psychological counseling as well as forwarding to other institutions (e.g. victim protection, women’s shelter, specific counseling facilities).

We are currently in development of this project and soon you will find multilingual information about our project.
